An oath of poverty…

Since the first day I began my career as a “journalist,” I’ve been told that if you’re in it for the money, journalism isn’t for you, and that once you pick up that pad and pen, you’ve taken an “oath of poverty.”After watching the journalistic integrity of most media outlets decay in the pursuit of the dollar, I’m a bit curious as to how true those statements were. Are journalists really as under compensated as they make themselves out to be? Part of the purpose of this blog is to keep track just who the top paid journalists are, whether it be broadcast or print.

In addition, attention will be paid to employee compensation from as many organizations and jobs as possible to gauge where each publication ranks in terms of pay scale. Of course, reader contributions is vital, and any tips are appreciated (so long as there’s a source!).

So…let’s start the presses…
